Alas, I will not be playing GTA6
Let's just start with the duality of me. I enjoy discovering and using new technology, I also like things a certain way and am not willing to compromise. This may sound like competing natures but I have found balance. Whatever economic system or social construct I'm living in requires placing value on things. I place value on time, people, and experiences. After the basic needs have been met.
As technology has increased, the ability to have more stuff and experiences has grown exponentially. Another important aspect of my mindset is the difference between renting vs owning. Things were extremely tight growing up. I know what a social safety net is, I know what community can do to help. So I value people's time. I believe in paying people back however you can. Not owning things is very real to me. Renting a thing is not on my radar. Subscriptions seem wrong, and when I find out how little music artists make from music subscriptions it seems wrong. I'd rather buy music from them on BandCamp Fridays.
(Get back to the point Patrick) I've been a committed fan to the GTA series since I played GTA III with my Cousin Dennis and my friends in Old Town. We played the hell out of that game. We 100% that game and then invented games within it. "How long can you survive with 6 stars?" "How far can we flip a Lambo over the Hospital" and the commitment never waned. PS2 primarily played Vice City and San Andreas. Bought a PS3 just to Play IV & V.
But Offline play is where all the joy has been. GTA Online was not a place of joy. Being a total maniac in your own sandbox where NPCs are the only interaction is thoughts inside your head being released. Going online is not that. Acting like a maniac and stealing people's stuff and griefing them is not fun when it happens to you, so I'm not interested in doing it to anyone else. Call me old, Call it a response to past trauma. But Online and a subscription is not the GTA maniac sandbox experience I want. With out a physical copy, I'm also not owning a thing I'm renting it.
